A small step for a woman, a huge step for Mara's fans!
This is Mara's Dad. David and Carol are downstairs uploading photos -- and meanwhile the physical therapist came to take Mara for a walk!! First she conducted baseline tests and taught Mara exercises to restore function (especially to her right arm) and keep her circulation strong. But then Mara stood up and walked around the floor! She will take at least two more walks today and do her stretching/relearning exercises several times. Mara is pleased, but not ecstatic, because she wants to leap back into health. She especially feels the limits of her right arm. Having seen her improve 1000% over the past two days, however, I have to say that I am excited about her walk. It is a true milestone, and I fully expect (based on my conversation with the neurosurgeon) that function will be back soon -- though soon may mean weeks. Indeed, we have seen a large step in Mara's recovery from surgery.

This is great news! How sweet of you to share your view! I can imagine your enthusiasm (and everyone else's)! Let it be weeks, who cares! - it's still a leap all right! Mara is such an amazing girl!!! Miracles with her seem the most natural phenomena!
Mara, you are my hero, my brave, courageous girl! We admire you so much!!!
Hugs and kisses to you all, naughty people - secret picture-takers in Mara's ICU-room!

Mara, darling, it started snowing in Sofia! Happy first snow!Somehow, I see it as a good sign, I don't know why. It's probably because of the nice winter memories I have, of you in winter clothes, scarf and mittens, and all... (Otherwise, I don't like winter at all.) How I wish we would spend a Christmas day in Gostilitsa! I'm sure we will!
I'm going to bed with happy thoughts of you, with hopes about you having a much better day than yesterday, feeling much better, stronger and steadier! Rest a lot, darling, and don't overdo anything, please! You'll soon be fully-recovered, regardless of how long it might take! We are so proud of you, you incredible fighter!
Love, Zlatna
