Released!

Mara has left the hospital and has just arrived at her aunt Mary's place. Relief. Dr. Gutin let Mara go after looking at the results of a CT scan that was done this morning. It came as a bit of a surprise, even to us.

It's late, so I'll report on Mara's last day at the hospital tomorrow.

Excellent!!!!!!

I have been on a plane all day and was hoping to discover good news when I landed.

Mara (AKA Wonder Woman)- you really are a force to be reckened with. Who but you has brain surgery and then goes home so fast? Stay strong and steady but also get some well needed rest.

Glad you're headed for Mary's. Will you have a burger, shake, and fries for me from the shakeshake? : )

And good idea from Laurie-I bet I could get our friend from the nail shop to come when you are ready. And better yet, I know a massage therapist.

Always sending good thoughts and love your way.

What a wonderful news with which to start the day! I agree with Evie - only you could have brain surgery and be discharged so quickly. I hope it feels good to be on 23rd Street. Give a hug to Aunt Mary from me. I so wish I was there. xoxoxoxo Rob

Dear Mara,

Wonderful news! We are so happy you are out of the hospital.

My mom wrote me after seeing your blog the other day, and I wanted to pass on the message she sent me:

Hi honey,
Went into Mara's blog and was so impressed with all the comments and the friends that she has~and so many others whose lives she has touched . She is a remarkable woman with incredible inner strength. My prayers are with her . You take care and please send her my love Mom

To this day, my family still talks about the great party at your parents' house the day we graduated from SAIS way back when, and more recently the wonderful evening my Mom, you, Chris, Sean and I had on our roofdeck before we left for Bangladesh. You definitely stay in their thoughts too. The circle is ever-expanding!

Love,
Luke

Yeah!!!! I'm sure you are so encouraged to be back in "your bed" (even a bed in exile in New York is better than a hospital bed) and a quiet restful place. I'm traveling back to New York today and will confer with your family as to when it might be possible to see you. xo, kristina in belgrade

What excellent news to start off the day! We're keeping up the good thoughts, just this morning at breakfast the kids asked if I knew "how your friend from USAID is doing" in the hospital.

YAYYY! You're such a star Mara! I finally got Google to let me back onto the blog - for whatever reason, it hasn't been recognizing my password, so my previous message went to your yahoo email instead.

Be well, rest up, and know that all of us are with you in spirit every minute of every day!

Love,
Carrie
