Beach Surprise
Three years ago Mara visited me for the second time in Tunisia. By this time I had scoped out some out-of-the way places. One of them was the beach at Ra's el Jabal. I told Mara nothing, except to put a bathing suit in her carry-on luggage. When I picked her up in the green Landrover at the airport we drove not to my little place in Carthage but North along a fast highway. We turned off near Utica, drove through the little coastal towns until the road went no further. A short walk through a forest of pine trees brought us to an empty beach where we swam and ate mangos. Mara loved this start to our little vacation.

David,
This is lovely!
It's so wonderful of you to share it! I've never been to a beach with Mara, so these pictures so well fill in the gap.
Hugs,
Zlatna
these are great pictures david, and they remind me of all the many time I have been to the beach also with Mara. Some of our most wonderful memories were from the Black Sea beaches in Varna, Bulgaria, as well as beaches on the Marmara in Istanbul; I used to love swimming with Mara and lying in the sand and reading or doing crossword puzzles with her, or just drinking a cold drink in the shade of the umbrella and speculating about where the other people on the beach might be from. And we both ALWAYS left one of our shoes in the sand, or would lose at least one hat or a pair of sunglasses or something. Somehow these photos make times which are actually pretty far in the past seem not so far away.
